It is very common for hyenas to steal food from cheetahs in the wild.
Spotted Hyena are stronger, heavier, and usually more aggressive than Cheetah. Even though cheetahs are the fastest land animals, they are not built for fighting.
After a cheetah makes a kill, hyenas may:
Follow the cheetah and wait for the hunt to finish
Chase the cheetah away from its prey
Work in groups to intimidate the cheetah
Sometimes even steal food from leopard or lion kills
A single cheetah often cannot defend its prey against one or more hyenas. Because of this, cheetahs usually try to eat very quickly before larger predators arrive.
