Most of the lions prides we find during the day look are stretched out in the shades, barely moving.

Lions are known to spend much of the day resting, saving their energy as they are known to be more active in the night. This pride has pulled in close beneath one tree. One is fast asleep at the back. few are lying with their mouths open, panting to cool down, the way lions do in the heat.

Look at the young male in front, too. His mane is only just starting to come in.

As you Watch closely at the lioness. While the others doze, she keeps her head up and turns it at sounds we can't even hear.

Resting doesn't mean they've stopped paying attention.

As we were driving in the serengeti, we can across a cheetah family, we stopped and keep an eye on each one.
You will notice they won’t all be doing the same thing.

Here, one gets up and walks past our vehicle while the others remain beneath the tree. We stay where we are and give it room to pass. Being close is a privilege; leaving it space is part of good guiding.
