Tanzania has lost 60% of its elephants since 2009. Ruaha lost 12,000 last year alone.

Sobering numbers indeed. Today is world elephant day, if you'd rather not have to show your kids a picture of an elephant in a book; then here's some friends of ours you can support in fighting the ivory trade:

Our recent trip to the Simanjiro region with our clients from Australia. The journey started with a long drive deep into Maasai lands with giraffes and zebra along the roadside. The next day we went deeper into the landscape and had a very special day in a Maasai boma, where we walked, talked, watched dancing, learnt about the houses and herbal medicine before saying farewell. A great trip - thank you to Margie, Ian and Leeanne!
