Our 2025 /2026 Annual Report is here

Our affiliate company, the Friedkin Conservation Fund (FCF), is one of Tanzania’s leading non-profit conservation organisations and the guardian of the landscapes that shape our Legendary experiences.

FCF’s 2025 Annual Report celebrates the power of connection in conservation — from ecological connectivity that safeguards the long-term health of vital ecosystems, to deepening relationships with local communities and partners that strengthen impact on the ground.

Highlights from this year include providing 2,500 daily meals to schoolchildren, harvesting 3,000 kg of honey through its beekeeping initiative, reopening over 13,200 hectares of previously degraded grassland for wildlife.

These milestones are a powerful reminder of what is possible when tourism and conservation work hand in hand — for wildlife, wild spaces, and the communities who call them home.

This Earth Day, under the theme “Our Power, Our Planet”, we’re reminded that real impact comes from people — from communities coming together to protect the places we all depend on. At Legendary Expeditions, this belief is at the heart of every journey.

Our safaris go beyond observation. They are purpose-led, with every stay directly supporting community-driven conservation that helps protect these wild landscapes for generations to come. When you travel with us, you become part of that shared story of stewardship.

As we mark Earth Day, we’re looking forward to sharing the FCF Annual Report tomorrow — a closer look at the impact made possible through these collective efforts.

Introducing Wild Dining at Mwiba Lodge

A private dining experience set within a beautifully designed canvas pavilion, hidden deep within Mwiba. Elevated above the landscape and overlooking a nearby natural spring, this open-sided space is surrounded by uninterrupted wilderness — a setting that is intimate, unexpected, and entirely exclusive.

Each course is thoughtfully curated by our chefs, with seasonal menus inspired by the land and crafted from the finest local ingredients. From the first pour to the final bite, every detail is considered — unhurried, sensory, and deeply connected to your surroundings.

This is safari dining as it should be: immersive, memorable, and impossible to replicate.

Set within the vast expanse of the exclusive-use Greater Mwiba Wildlife Area, Mwiba Lodge offers a rare expression of safari—defined by privacy, pace, and a profound sense of place.

This is wilderness experienced on your own terms. With a private guide and vehicle included, each day unfolds intuitively. Just ten suites, sculpted into ancient granite, ensure an atmosphere of complete seclusion. Each is a private sanctuary where refined simplicity meets the raw beauty of the landscape—expansive decks, deep soaking baths, and uninterrupted views stretching into the wild.

Mwiba Lodge remains open throughout the 2026 season, with a brief annual pause from 01 April to 14 May for enhancements, reopening from 15 May 2026.

Some sightings are too good to keep in the guides’ group chat.

This month’s Legendary Unfiltered comes to you from Songa South, located within our exclusive-use protected wildlife area bordering the southern Serengeti.

Swipe for big cat cubs, a glimpse of what rush hour looks like on safari, and a few moments we simply couldn’t keep to ourselves.

No museum or documentary invites connection to culture quite like walking alongside the Hadzabe or spending an afternoon with the Datoga tribe.

The Hadzabe, some of Africa’s last hunter-gatherers, are readers of the earth and keepers of ancient knowledge. The Datoga, a vibrant and proud people, have woven song and dance into their pastoral way of life.

What feels like wilderness to us is, to them, home. And in that understanding, we begin to see our place within a much older, richer human story.

Connect with culture while on safari with us at Legendary Mwiba Lodge.

Vultures are ecosystem engineers. Often underestimated, they are among the most important birds in any African landscape, clearing carcasses, preventing the spread of disease, and acting as natural indicators of ecosystem health.

In January this year, the Friedkin Conservation Fund (FCF) carried out a vulture tagging project in Maswa Kimali and Mbono, in Tanzania.

By fitting vultures with tracking devices, FCF is building a clearer picture of how these birds move across the landscape, including the territories they cover, where they gather, and the threats they face. This data is essential for long-term species and habitat protection.

Each safari with Legendary Expeditions directly contributes to the protection of the vital ecosystems we call home, and a voluntary contribution of US$85 per booking supports initiatives such as vulture tagging projects.
