He booked a Tanzania safari to see lions. He saw them.

Then we asked what he remembered. He didn't start with the lions he started with the guides, the itinerary, and the bit where he tried to out-jump a Maasai warrior.

His word for it was "intermixed". Not a cultural add-on at the end of the safari. Mixed through it.

Our guests had come for the big cats. This part wasn't on the itinerary.

They spent the morning there. School supplies handed over, a walk through the gardens, far too much noise in the classroom. Behind the school there's a nursery 320 Hass avocado trees planted so far, and the seedlings still in their bags are for the children to carry home and plant themselves.

"I've been lucky enough to be in about 50 countries," one of our guests said afterwards, "and I believe that actually we got a gift ourselves from the kids at the school."

Our guide does not flinch at a wild elephant. A handstand is apparently
where he draws the line. 😅
Day two in Tanzania. One of our guests who turns out to be very good at
this set up her bars outside camp and dared him to try.
He gave it a real go. Then said, and we quote: "my hand will be broken."
Final score: Guest 1, Guide 0.

The first morning, a baboon climbed onto our roof and just… watched us.

That's the part no one warns you about out here you don't go looking for the wild. It comes to you.

The herds move all year. The best light arrives before breakfast. And the difference between a good safari and one you'll never stop talking about is almost always the person at the wheel.

This isn't a documentary. This was last week. 🌍

While you were scrolling, 1.5 million wildebeest were throwing themselves across the Mara River — and our guests watched it happen before breakfast. By lunch they'd stood in two countries at once. By sunset, drinks on the open plains.
