Did you ever want to walk in the footsteps of the Maasai?

Connect to wilderness, wildlife and Maasai culture with a stay at Campi ya Kanzi.

Situated at the foot of the Chyulu Hills cloud forest, Campi ya Kanzi sits between forest, savanna, and ancient lava flows, with sweeping views toward Mount Kilimanjaro, on 400,000 acres of Maasai-owned land.

Campi ya Kanzi offers walking safaris and wildlife experiences led by Maasai guides whose knowledge of the land has been passed down for generations. Owned by the Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust, all proceeds from Campi ya Kanzi directly support conservation, education, healthcare, and livelihoods for local communities.

🦍 To view mountain gorillas in the wild is often described as one of the most thrilling and meaningful wildlife experiences on the planet, and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda is home to over half the world’s mountain gorillas.

🦍 Did you know?

Bwindi's name derives from the Rukiga word Mubwindi β€” "dark, impenetrable place". It shelters more species of trees, ferns, primates, and birds than any other forest in East Africa.

We can't recommend this experience highly enough!!

Plan your gorilla trekking adventure today.

πŸ™πŸ½ Excellent work from .zoological.society and to restore this beautiful region of Zambia.

"Wildlife is returning to Nsumbu National Park πŸƒπŸ¦“

In this landscape in Zambia, restoring ecosystems means bringing back what has been lost. Grazing species like buffalo and zebra play a critical role, yet their numbers had declined significantly.

Together with partners, FZS and the Conservation Programme supported a large-scale reintroduction effort, moving around 200 buffalo and 50 zebra back into the park. A complex operation that required careful planning, coordination, and long-term commitment.

The results are encouraging. Since the reintroduction, no animals have been lost to poaching: a strong indicator of effective protection on the ground. Ongoing monitoring also shows that populations are growing and beginning to recover.

This is what ecosystem restoration looks like in practice: rebuilding wildlife populations, strengthening protection, and working together across teams and partners to create lasting impact."

Safaris are an opportunity to view (and understand) the 'circle of life', and that includes the necessity for predators to hunt and provide for the next generation.

Why do lions sometimes climb trees?

When you think of big cats climbing trees, you almost certainly think of leopards. But in East Africa

Lions are believed to climb trees as a behavioural adaptation to protect themselves from the constant irritation of insect bites, like from tsetse flies. Some animal behaviourists claim that these lions have perfected the art of climbing trees as a way of escaping the sweltering heat on ground level. It can also be an excellent vantage point from which to observe prey and to steal a leopard's kill.
