Planning a trip to Tanzania?
Here’s a quick update to keep in mind.
From October 1, 2026, applicable foreign visitors entering Mainland Tanzania will be required to have official inbound travel insurance. The insurance costs USD 44 per visitor and is valid for up to 92 days.
If you’re arriving in Mainland Tanzania, the insurance will be obtained through the National Insurance Corporation (NIC). For those entering through Zanzibar, the Zanzibar Insurance Corporation (ZIC) requirements will apply.
This is a mandatory entry requirement and does not replace comprehensive personal travel insurance.
