Just three miles off the coast of Zanzibar Island lies another much smaller island called Changuu. The island is commonly referred to as ‘prison island’. Surrounded by stunning blue sea, the island features sunny beaches and a unique sight. The island is home to some giant Aldabra tortoises. This is one of the few places in the world where these tortoises reside. The tortoises originally came from the island of Aldabra and were given as a gift in 1919 by the British governor of Seychelles.
