November to May in Tanzania hits different.
The rains come and everything wakes up. The landscapes turn green, the air feels fresh, and the parks are alive in a way you won’t see in peak dry season. It’s quieter too. Fewer crowds, better rates, and way more space to actually take it all in.
This is also when the magic happens in the southern Serengeti National Park. From late January to March, the plains fill with life during the wildebeest calving season. Thousands of newborns, first steps, first runs… and yes, predators never far behind. It’s raw, real, unforgettable.
Where to stop and what to do:
📍 Arusha
Your starting point. Coffee, views of Mount Meru, and a soft landing before safari life begins.
📍 Ngorongoro Crater
A natural wildlife bowl. Lions, elephants, rhinos all in one place. Easy game viewing, big moments.
📍 Southern Serengeti National Park
Calving season central. Endless plains, dramatic sightings, golden light that photographers dream about.
📍 Tarangire National Park
Baobab trees and huge elephant herds. A quieter gem with a wild feel.
📍 Zanzibar
After the dust, slow it down. White sand, warm ocean, sunset dhow cruises.
What it feels like:
Morning game drives with mist lifting off the grass. Afternoons watching storms roll across the plains. Evenings by the fire, replaying the day.
Our calving season safari package is built around this exact window. We time your stay in the southern Serengeti when the herds arrive, place you in camps close to the action, and keep the pace right so you don’t just see it… you feel it.
If you’ve been thinking about Africa, this is your sign.
