What NOT to pack for Kilimanjaro 🏔️
When it comes to prepping for Kilimanjaro, most people focus on what to bring — boots, layers, snacks, the right socks… But just as important is knowing what not to bring.

Here’s what to leave behind:

🚫 Heavy gear you “might” use
This isn’t the time to pack like you're moving house. Overpacking slows you down, tires out your porters, and trust us — that “just in case” extra jacket? You won’t use it.

🚫 Cotton everything
Cotton gets wet and stays wet. Opt for moisture-wicking, quick-dry fabrics instead. Hypothermia isn’t a vibe.

🚫 Tech gadgets galore
There’s no Wi-Fi on the mountain. Ditch the laptop, tablet, and fancy gear you won’t even be able to charge. Bring a power bank for essentials and enjoy the digital detox.

🚫 New hiking boots
Break them in before the climb. Blisters on Day 2 are the enemy.

🚫 Perfume, deodorant sprays, or strong scents
You’ll be sweating, sure. But strong scents can attract bugs and irritate fellow climbers. Embrace the mountain musk.

Truth is, you need less than you think. Pack light, pack smart — and save your energy for the summit.

Thinking of climbing Kili? Drop your packing questions below 👇 or tag someone who's dreaming of the Roof of Africa.

Front row seats to the wild.

There’s nothing quite like the view from a safari car—windows down, camera ready, and the thrill of spotting something incredible just around the corner.

With Greg Adventures, it’s a front-row ticket to nature’s greatest show. 🎟️🦁🌍

What most people don’t know about elephants…
Yes, they’re massive. Yes, they’ve got tusks and trunks and ears like open parachutes. But if you think elephants are just gentle giants wandering through the savannah — you’re only seeing part of the story.

Here’s what most people don’t know:

Elephants are some of the most emotionally intelligent animals on Earth.
They mourn their dead. They form lifelong friendships. They comfort each other with gentle trunk touches. And they pass down knowledge — like migration routes and safe waterholes — from matriarch to matriarch, generation after generation.

But they’re not just softies either.

They can be fiercely protective, strategic thinkers, and surprisingly silent for their size. (Yes, an elephant can sneak up on you. And no, you will not hear it coming.)

They’re not just one of Africa’s Big Five — they’re wise, sensitive, and powerful all at once.

You arrive as strangers. You summit as family. 🏔️❤️

There’s something about the Kilimanjaro trek that brings people together. Maybe it’s the shared goal, the early morning coffees, the jokes on the trail, the shared suffering or the way the Greg Adventures team has your back every single step of the way.

By the time you reach the top, you’ve not only conquered a mountain—you’ve built a bond with your fellow trekkers and crew that feels like family and that last a lifetime.

Trust us—Kili is life-changing in more ways than one.

Are cheetahs more dangerous than people think?
They’re fast. They’re sleek. They’ve got that intense stare that says “I could outrun your car.” But here’s the thing — cheetahs aren’t exactly the apex predators many people assume they are.

So… are they more dangerous than people think?
Actually, the opposite might be true.

Cheetahs are built for speed, not power. Unlike lions or leopards, they don’t have strong jaws or the strength to drag prey up a tree. They rely on stealth, strategy, and a burst of acceleration that can hit up to 100 km/h. Impressive? Absolutely. But it also means they avoid conflict whenever possible — even with animals like hyenas and jackals, who often steal their hard-earned meals.

And when it comes to humans? Cheetahs are some of the shyest cats in the wild. They’d much rather keep their distance than come too close.

So no — cheetahs aren’t more dangerous than you think. If anything, they’re more vulnerable. But they’re also one of the most graceful, awe-inspiring creatures you’ll ever see on safari.

Would you want to spot one in the wild?

Drop a 🐆 in the comments if you love cheetahs!

There’s nothing quite like being just a few metres away from a wild elephant.

You hear the crunch of twigs underfoot before you even see them. A low rumble rolls across the savanna. And then—there they are. Majestic, calm, and far bigger than you imagined.

One of the most unforgettable moments on safari is watching elephants in their natural habitat. Whether they're gently flapping their ears to cool off, tossing dust over their backs, or guiding their tiny calves across the road, every move feels like a scene from a documentary—except you're living it.

It’s humbling. It’s peaceful. It’s real.
And our experienced guides make sure that these close encounters happen safely—for you and for the elephants.

📍Tarangire, Serengeti, Ngorongoro… wherever the herds roam, we know where to find them.

How was it for you when you saw your first elephant in the wild?🐘

Imagine you spotted an elephant and it had no trunk?!😳 How would it drink, eat, smell, or even greet its friends without it?

Believe it or not, elephants can survive without a trunk, but it’s a serious challenge. Since their trunk is like a Swiss Army knife—used for grabbing food, drinking, and even showing affection—losing it means adapting in extraordinary ways. Some elephants learn to use their mouth directly or rely on their herd for help. 💪🐘

Nature is full of resilience, but trust us—you don’t want to see an elephant without its multitool!

Greg Explains: What to Do if You Get Altitude Sickness on Kilimanjaro 🏔️

So, you’re climbing Kili, feeling like a champ… and then—bam! Headache, dizziness, maybe even nausea. Welcome to altitude sickness, the mountain’s way of reminding you who’s boss. 😵‍💫 But don’t worry—here’s what to do:

🔹 Stop and rest—pushing through will only make it worse.
🔹 Hydrate like it’s your job—dehydration makes symptoms worse.
🔹 Take it slow—altitude is a marathon, not a sprint.
🔹 Listen to your guide—they know when it’s safe to continue, when you need to eat although you don't feel like it and when it’s time to descend.

Most climbers feel some effects of altitude, but if symptoms get severe, the only cure is going down. And trust us—safety always comes before summits! 💪

Ever had altitude sickness before? How did you handle it?

Are you a birder? 🦜👀

You don’t have to carry a massive camera and whisper Latin bird names to get excited about spotting a lilac-breasted roller or a secretary bird strutting through the savanna. But be warned—once you start noticing Africa’s incredible birdlife, there’s no going back. And you might just become one of those people you used to make fun of.😉

From flamboyant flamingos to the stealthy owl camouflaged in the trees, every safari comes with a front-row seat to nature’s most colorful and unexpected performers.

So, are you a birder... or are you about to become one? 😏

Are these zebras safe? 👀

At first glance, this looks like a peaceful scene—zebras gathered at the waterhole, quenching their thirst under the African sun. But in the wild, waterholes are like nature’s busiest (and riskiest) meeting spots.🐆🐊

Lions and crocodiles know this is where their prey lets their guard down. That’s why zebras never drink alone—they take turns keeping watch, their sharp eyes scanning for any movement in the tall grass or beneath the water’s surface. Safety in numbers is the name of the game!

Some views on safari feel like they’re straight out of a movie🎬

A lone giraffe strolling through the golden savanna, the sun casting a perfect glow—if we didn’t see it with our own eyes, we’d think it wasn't real.😍

You know, there’s something special about an evening game drive. The whole bush just… changes. The heat fades, and suddenly, the air feels fresh, almost cool. You start noticing things you wouldn’t during the day—the smell of the earth, the way the light disappears so fast.

And then the sounds shift. The birds quiet down, and this sort of deep stillness takes over. But it’s not silent—not at all. There’s a lion somewhere in the distance, giving off that deep, guttural call. If you’ve ever heard it, you know exactly what I mean—it rattles right through you.

Then the spotlight comes on, and that’s when the real magic happens. A pair of eyes flickers in the distance—maybe a hyena, maybe something else. And if we’re lucky, we might catch a leopard on the move, just for a second before it vanishes again.

But my favorite part? That moment when we switch everything off. No lights, no engine, nothing. Just the stars overhead and the feeling that, for once, we’re the ones being watched.

🚻 "But what about bathroom breaks on safari?" A question many have when considering a safari adventure. Let’s face it, the thought of nature calls amidst the wild can be a little intimidating! 🙈

Here’s the deal: it’s a bit trickier than pulling into a gas station. In the heart of the savanna, there aren’t exactly restrooms around every corner. 🦁🌍 But don't worry! Our experienced guides are pros at navigating these situations. When nature calls, we stop in a safe, open area, and the guide will take care of everything, ensuring both your privacy and safety are the top priority. 💪🏼💚

For the most part, we time stops during the journey, so you can enjoy the wildlife while also managing comfort breaks. We've got your back! 😊✨

The ultimate safari goal for most of our guests? Spotting Africa’s Wild Cats! 🐾

For many safari-goers, seeing a lion, cheetah, or leopard in the wild is the dream—that heart-racing moment when you lock eyes with one of nature’s most powerful predators. But did you know each of these big cats has its own unique superpower?

🦁 Lions – The Social Kings
Unlike their feline cousins, lions live in prides, working together to hunt and protect their territory. Their roars? So loud they can be heard up to 8 km away!

🐆 Cheetahs – The Speed Demons
Built for pure acceleration, cheetahs can go from 0 to 100 km/h in just three seconds—faster than most sports cars! Unlike other big cats, they don’t roar, but they do make adorable chirping sounds.

🐾 Leopards – The Stealthy Shadows
The masters of disguise, leopards can carry prey twice their weight up a tree to keep it away from scavengers. Their spots aren’t just for show—they work as the perfect camouflage in dense bush.

Which of these majestic cats would you love to see in the wild?

🚀 How Safe Are Balloon Safaris?

We get this question a lot, and the answer is: very safe! 🎈✨ Balloon safaris are operated by highly trained, licensed pilots who follow strict safety protocols. The balloons undergo regular inspections, and before takeoff, you’ll receive a full safety briefing so you know exactly what to expect.

While floating over the Serengeti at sunrise, the only thing you need to worry about is taking in the breathtaking views (and maybe how many photos your phone can handle 📸😆).

Would you take to the skies for this once-in-a-lifetime experience? Let us know in the comments! ⬇️

🦓Did you know that when a baby zebra (called a foal) is born, its mother keeps it away from the rest of the herd for a few days?

This isn’t just overprotectiveness—it’s a survival strategy! During this time, the foal memorizes its mother’s unique stripe pattern and scent, ensuring it can always find her in the striped sea of the herd. 🦓👀

This strong mother-baby bond is crucial in the wild, where sticking close means safety. And let’s be honest—watching a tiny foal trot after its mom, wobbling on those long legs, is one of the cutest sights on safari! 😍

Ever seen a zebra foal in the wild?
