A baby wildebeest close encounter at the Ngorongoro Crater.

This newborn had just been born and lost its mother. It’s common for baby wildebeest to become separated from their mothers, especially during the chaos of calving season. Thousands of calves are born within a short period, and the herd is constantly on the move. Mothers often give birth in isolation and then rejoin the herd, but if the bond isn’t quickly established through scent and vocal recognition, the calf can easily get lost in the crowd.

Giraffes are among the most peaceful animals on the African savannah, spending most of their day browsing leaves from the tops of acacia trees that few other animals can reach. Their long necks are not just for feeding they also help them keep watch for predators across vast distances.

If you’ve ever wondered why you sometimes see so many giraffes together, it’s completely normal. Giraffes often gather in loose groups known as towers, especially in areas with abundant food and water. Unlike many herd animals, these groups are relaxed and constantly changing, with individuals joining and leaving throughout the day.
