Trade Winds Dhow Expeditions and Safaris

Trade Winds Dhow Expeditions and Safaris Sailing the waters of East Africa in a traditional 36ft Dhow, the Vagabundo. Equipped to international safety standards. definately for the more adventourists!

We are based in the sleepy town of Bagamoyo, the original dhow port used by the explorers of old, 60km north of Dar-es-Salaam. After four years and about 2000seamiles of sailing the coast of East Africa, from Zanzibar to Mozambique and back, the Vagabudo is finally setteling (for a while!) in the traditional dhow port of Bagamoyo. This is the place where explorers of old first set foot on Afican s

oil. We have been following in the footsteps of those explorers and now the Vagabundo and her experienced crew is ready for you to come join in our adventures. The Vagabundo is a dhow with a difference, equiped as an expedition vessel with electronic navigation, solar power, fridge, cooking facilities, fishing tackle, snorkeling equipment, backup 20hp fourstroke outboard and a backup 3.2m inflatable tender. We can do anything from sunset cruises, snorkeling daytrips out on the coral reef, or multi-day expeditions last weeks. She is the perfect platform for scientific research or budget diving trips. We also offer sailing transfers to and from Stonetown, Zanzibar, and specialize in combination sailing and walking safaris to Sadaani National Park. Explore the best of both worlds! Sail to a secluded reef to snorkel and relax, then on to the Wami river and up the mangroves looking for the resident hippos and crocodiles. We flycamp wild on the banks of the Wami, before venturing on foot into the park, tracking elephants with competent guides. True adventure like the explorers of old, is a rare thing in this day and age.....but it is all we know! So be brave, be bold, and set sail with us on the Vagabundo!
