Characteristics of a Rhinoceros 🦏
Very large, heavy-bodied mammal with a thick, barrel-shaped body
Thick, tough skin that looks armor-like (especially in African species)
One or two horns on the nose made of keratin (not bone)
Short neck and powerful legs built to carry great weight
Poor eyesight, but excellent sense of smell and hearing
Herbivorous – feeds on grasses, leaves, shoots, and shrubs
Mostly solitary, except mothers with calves
Can run fast for their size (up to about 50 km/h for short distances)
Enjoy wallowing in mud, which helps cool the body and protect the skin
Strong and defensive, can be aggressive if threatened
Long lifespan, often 35–50 years
Native to Africa and Asia, depending on the species
