Behind Kirsten’s family house we are a Danish/Zanzibarian family. The house is an established Zanzibarian company and is run by Kirsten’s husband Gold in collaboration with Kirsten’s family, daily led by Gold with help from Karnanda and Gee. The house stands in Kirsten’s memory and is built upon her being and values, values such as openness, sincerity and generosity. These are values that fit with
the Zanzibarian mentality as the people are extremely hospital and friendly. We first of all address families because of our values and offer vacation away from flat screens (even though we do have wifi :) ) where you are far from mass tourism and guided package holidays and where you come completely close to the authentic Zanzibarian, African culture, nature and people. Kirsten’s family house wishes to support Jambiani village and has therefore chosen only to hire local people. Moreover the family is planning to create activities and projects that promote sustainable development for the society and families of Jambiani. About Zanzibar:
Zanzibar lies in the Indian Ocean at Tanzania’s east coast. You get to the Ile by either ferry or airplane from the mainland. Kirsten’s family house is situated only a few meters from the sea at the fisher village Jambiani on the east coast 42 km from the capital Stone Town. The east coast is known to have the best beaches of the Ile and there are good places to dive and snorkel at coral reef. With its white sand beaches, palm trees, turquoise waters, exotic flora, animals and coral reef fish Zanzibar is indeed more beautiful than the post card! The changing of the tide creates different nuancing colors from crystal to turquoise to emerald and blue. A natural sandbar stretching from the shore and more than 1 km out creates a natural swimming pool and protects from the ocean’s strong currents and makes the waters round the Ile safe. Like the swimming pool the ocean is even warm all year round with an average temperature of 25 degrees. The modest size of the Ile makes it possible to go on a daytrip to the other end of the Ile and so it is easy to do plenty of activities in a short period of time. You will experience though how wonderful it is also to simply spent time at the garden, beach and bar just contemplating the sea, sitting comfortably with a drink in your hand. The Zanzibarian people are extremely hospital and friendly and they will do everything they can to make you feel welcome. Our staff is always at your side to help you and answer the questions you may have, so do not hesitate taking contact at any time. As Zanzibar is close to the equator it is warm and sunny all year round. Zanzibar has the ideal vacation weather all year round except during the two rain seasons which fall from the end of March until mid-May and during the month of November. When it is summer in Europe it is winter on Zanzibar and visa-versa. The average temperature for the Zanzibarian summer is 27-28 degrees whereas the average temperature for the winter is 24-25 degrees.
