Uluguru mountains are an Eastern arc mountains which start from Taita hills in Kenya penetrated to Tanzania Meru mountain in North of Tanzania and pass to Tanga region Usambara mountains , Morogoro (uluguru mountains) connected to Udzungwa mountains National Park, Uluguru mountain is named after the tribe name (Luguru/waluguru)the indigenous tribe of Morogoro region
(things to do while you're visiting Morogoro
1.CHOMA TRADITIONAL VILLAGE TOUR
Tour start from Morogoro town where you will be staying, on the way you will pass Mbete village where you will find women making soil cake which done from the soil and preferred by pregnant women (Udongo wa pemba) and learning their culture and interact with them after 1 hours walking you will start seeing the beautiful views of the mountains and Morogoro town after reaching at village you will visit choma waterfall and also meet women making Mat weaving, pot making and a local healer using the bark of trees, leaves roots to treat people after all you go back the same way to town
2. MORNING SIDE TOUR( morning side is the old German settlement which was built in 1911, it was built inside the forest the sun was coming late and quickly go down all the time was looking like morning)
Also the tour starting from the hotel where you will be staying and start walking up the mountain in this route you will be able interacting with local people and seeing defferent views of mountains and Morogoro town after passing Ruvuma village you will walk to farmlands which decorated by terraces they growing, onions, tomatoes, beans, , carrots, corn and etc after reaching the Morning side you will have an amazing view of Morogoro town and mountain ranges
After every thing you will walk the same way back to Morogoro town.
3.Overnight option (2Days 1 Night)
Day1 in Uluguru Mountains
Hike start from Morogoro town around 9:30am you will pass via kireka and Mbete village , here you will have full day walking with your parked lunch or will be arranged on the way you will go through choma village and waterfalls and do some activities such as Pot making, mat weaving and visiting traditional healer learning how is treating people by using traditional medicine like barks, leaves and roots of trees
Later you will continue hiking to morning side camp via kisosa village where there is a wonderfully view of Morogoro town after reaching the camp you will have shower if you like while the guide is preparing born fire if it is not raining after shower will be ready to have some tea or coffee and later dinner will be already and sleep in the tents
Day 2
Wake up in the morning have a breakfast ,around 7:30am will continue hiking to the Bondwa peak after 1 hours of walking from the camp you will be entering in the rain forest enjoying defferent views and vegetation and probably if you are lucky enough you will see species of monkey s like black and white color bus monkeys, blue monkeys and forest birds after getting the top you will have nice view of Morogoro town if it's clear after everything you will go back the same way to the camp for the lunch and parking your stuffs ready to go back to Morogoro town
4.Bondwa peak
Is the second peak of Uluguru mountains which lies 2160msl this hiking takes about fully day
5.Lupanga peak
Is the second highest peak of Uluguru mountain lies 2280msl
