Day 4 on the Marangu Route takes us from Horombo Hut (3,720 m) to Kibo Hut (4,703 m). The trail crosses the beautiful Saddle the high-altitude desert between Mawenzi Peak and Kibo Peak
The vegetation becomes much more sparse as we gain altitude, and the landscape changes into rocky, dry alpine terrain. This is a challenging day because of the altitude, so we walk pole pole, stay hydrated, and conserve energy for the summit night

After a rewarding trek, we arrived at Mandara Hut (2,720 m) our first overnight stop on the mountain. The journey has just begun, and there is much more to come. ⛰️✨
