🗣️ LANGUAGES — ONE VOICE, MANY TONGUES
Tanzania has around 129 ethnic groups, yet everyone is united by one national language: Swahili. At independence in 1961, the country made a deliberate choice never to favor a single tribe so Swahili became the great unifier, taught in schools from day one. Most Tanzanians grow up speaking three languages: their tribal tongue, Swahili, and often English too. 🗺️

🤝 GREETINGS MATTER A LOT
In Tanzania, a handshake can last longer than you'd expect and that's normal, not awkward! Asking after someone's family is part of every proper greeting. Elders are treated with special respect: greet one with "Shikamoo" and they'll reply "Marahaba" 🙏

⛪🕌 RELIGION — PEACEFUL COEXISTENCE
Mosques, churches,temples and traditional beliefs. Share the same skylines religious tolerance runs deep in Tanzanian society.

🐄 THE MAASAI — GUARDIANS OF TRADITION
Even with smartphones now common, the Maasai hold tightly to centuries-old customs. Cattle aren't just livelihood they're considered a gift from their god Enkai, and a measure of wealth. Their homes, called manyattas, are built from dung and soil, ringed by thorn branches for protection from predators. 🦁

🏹 THE HADZABE — THE LAST HUNTER-GATHERERS
Near Lake Eyasi live one of Africa's last true hunter-gatherer tribes around 1,200 people, though only ~400 still live the traditional way. They hunt with bows and arrows, forage wild honey from aggressive bees, and share everything equally in small, hierarchy-free groups. Their language is full of distinctive clicks and pops 🍯🏹
