Two lions sharing a meal beside the river might look like a peaceful evening scene, but there is so much happening in this moment in the wild. 🦁🌅

Lions are social animals that live in groups called prides. Unlike most wild cats, they often share their lives, territory and sometimes their food with other members of their pride. However, sharing a meal doesn’t always mean everyone gets an equal portion! Dominance, age and individual behaviour can influence who gets access to the food first.

Lions are carnivores, meaning their diet consists mainly of meat. They typically hunt large herbivores such as zebras, wildebeest and buffalo. Although lionesses do most of the hunting in many prides, males also hunt, and both sexes play important roles in the pride’s survival.

And what about the river beside them? Rivers are vital to wildlife in Tanzania’s national parks. They provide drinking water, support vegetation and attract many animals, including the very herbivores that lions prey on. This makes riverbanks important places for observing the complex relationships between predators, prey and their environment.

Every safari offers an opportunity to learn something new about the natural world. 🌿

Dreaming of trekking Mount Kilimanjaro? 🏔️🇹🇿

Standing at 5,895 metres above sea level, Mount Kilimanjaro is Africa’s highest mountain and one of the most rewarding adventures you can experience.

But before you take on the challenge, here are a few things to know! 🥾

⛰️ Set your expectations: Climbing Kilimanjaro is not just about physical strength. The altitude, changing weather, long hiking days and summit night can be challenging. Take it one step at a time, listen to your guides and remember that reaching the summit is a journey, not a race.

🎒 Prepare well: Build your fitness with regular walks, hikes and cardio exercises. Invest in good hiking boots, warm layered clothing, a comfortable daypack and essential trekking gear. Mental preparation is just as important as physical training!

🗺️ Choose the right route: The best route depends on your fitness, experience, available time and personal preferences. The Lemosho Route is a favourite for its beautiful scenery and longer acclimatisation itinerary, while the Machame Route offers spectacular landscapes and an adventurous trekking experience. Both are excellent options when planned with enough time to adjust to the altitude.

🌿 Remember: Go slowly, stay hydrated, follow your guide’s advice and give your body time to acclimatise. No summit is worth compromising your health.
