Motherhood is carried with love. 🤎👶🏿🌍

In Tanzania, many mothers carry their babies using a kitenge kanga, a traditional cottoncloth. In Swahili, this way of carrying a baby is called kubeba mtoto mgongoni, which means “carrying a baby on the back. “ ✨

Keeping babies close helps them feel safe, calm, and comfortable. The gentle movement also helps them relax and sleep, while the close contact creates a strong bond between mother and child. At the same time, mothers can farm, cook, collect water, and do other daily tasks with their hands free. 🤱🏿

A kitenge kanga is more than a cloth—it carries love, care, and a tradition that continues to bring families and communities together. 💚
