✈️ Exciting news for Lake Natron Camp!

We’re thrilled to see Auric Air - “Safari Flights” launch daily scheduled flights to Lake Natron (Engaresero Airstrip), making one of Tanzania’s most extraordinary destinations more accessible than ever.

For years, Lake Natron has been one of East Africa’s best-kept secrets—home to dramatic volcanic landscapes, the world’s largest breeding ground for Lesser Flamingos, the iconic Ol Doinyo Lengai, and unforgettable cultural and adventure experiences.

With new scheduled connections to Zanzibar, Arusha, Dar es Salaam, the Serengeti, Manyara, Tarangire, Kigali and Entebbe, it’s now even easier to include Lake Natron Camp in a Northern Tanzania safari or wider East African itinerary.

This is fantastic news not only for travellers, but also for the local community, helping to open up this remarkable region while supporting sustainable tourism and conservation.

Whether you’re looking to trek through the Great Rift Valley, climb the world’s only active carbonatite volcano, discover ancient hominid footprints, or simply unwind in one of Tanzania’s most spectacular landscapes, there’s never been a better time to visit.

A huge congratulations to the Auric Air - “Safari Flights” team—we’re looking forward to welcoming even more guests to experience the magic of Lake Natron Camp.

Last week 8 bags of beans were handed over to Engaresero Primary School, providing valuable support for the students and teachers. The school community greatly appreciated the contribution and expressed their sincere thanks. ❤️

There was also an opportunity to speak with the students and Head Teacher about the importance of the school garden, which is supported by Lake Natron Camp.

The vegetables grown in the garden are purchased by Lake Natron Camp, with the income generated going directly towards providing food for the students. 🌱🥬

The students and teachers were encouraged to value, protect and actively support the garden, which plays an important role in school nutrition, practical learning and strengthening the partnership between the school, the community and Lake Natron Camp.

Small initiatives can make a meaningful difference — supporting education, nutrition and sustainable community development around Lake Natron. 🌍❤️

From farm to classroom. 🌽❤️

This week we delivered 8 bags of maize to the local school.

Our camp sources fresh, organic vegetables from the school’s farm, paying full retail price for everything we buy. The income generated is then used by the school to purchase essential staples like maize, helping to provide nutritious lunches for the children.

It’s a simple partnership that supports local farmers, nourishes young minds, and ensures every stay at Lake Natron Camp has a positive impact on the community.

Travel that gives back. 🌿

New Garden Update – Great Progress 🪴

We are excited to share another positive milestone from our farming project!

Daudi has successfully established and planted our second vegetable garden, a great step toward increasing the production of fresh vegetables for our camp guests.

Unlike our main garden, which relies on an irrigation system, this new garden is supplied by canal water, allowing us to expand production using the natural water source available.

So far, the following crops have been planted:
Carrots, Cassava, Sukuma Wiki (Collard Greens),Saro, Mnafu (African Nightshade).

This expansion will help us provide a more consistent supply of fresh, healthy vegetables for our guests while reducing the need to purchase produce from outside suppliers.

👏👏👏

🌿✨ We are incredibly proud to share that Lake Natron Camp has been shortlisted for the ATTA® Zero Waste Trailblazer Award! ✨🌿

From composting kitchen waste to nourish our farm, to sourcing fresh local ingredients and supporting our surrounding communities, we are committed to ensuring that tourism leaves a positive impact on both people and the environment.

🌱 From Kitchen Scraps to Fresh Greens 🌱

At Lake Natron Camp, sustainability isn’t just a buzzword—it’s part of our daily routine.

Every day, our chef collects fruit and vegetable scraps from the kitchen and adds them to our compost system. Instead of sending organic waste to landfill, we’re turning it into nutrient-rich compost that helps nourish the vegetables and greens grown on our farm.

Not only does composting reduce waste, but it also improves soil health, helps retain moisture, reduces the need for chemical fertilisers, and creates a natural cycle where yesterday’s leftovers help grow tomorrow’s meals. 🌿🥬

It’s a small action that makes a big difference—for our guests, our farm, and the environment.

Because we believe that responsible tourism starts with caring for the places we call home. 💚
