Sharing scenes from Simon’s garden 🌱

“As a founder, lead guide, permaculture practitioner and climate change ambassador, I keep my passion simple: create, share, and make a difference.
We maintain our vegetable production for expeditions and for the community here in Moshi. Each week we harvest what is ready and deliver fresh vegetables from the garden to the plate.
These photos show only a small section of what we grow, which includes several hundred Hass avocado trees. In 2020 I created a campaign to raise awareness on sustainable systems, through which we were able to provide 1000 avocado seedlings to guides, porters and community members.

The idea is not just to plant trees, but to plant those that can provide an additional source of income for families. I feel fortunate and grateful to everyone around the world who has trusted me, supported these efforts and who choose to experience Tanzania with us.
One seed, one tree, one harvest, one community at a time. 🌱🥑🏔️”

SENE continues to travel beyond the traditional safari experience

Du Bai came to climb Kilimanjaro and then spend some time at the farm with Simon Mtuy, learning about permaculture and experiencing a different side of Tanzania 🌱
Following the farm stay, they set off on a multi-day cycle adventure, from Marangu through Rongai and Simba Farm, all the way to Maasai Lodge. Along the way they enjoyed breathtaking views of Kibo, encountered some wildlife and discovered the incredible landscapes around Kilimanjaro.

Adventure, culture, nature and friendship - this is Tanzania 🇹🇿

Congratulations to Kathy on reaching her 6th summit with SENE! 🎉

This year, she was joined by her grandson, along with two wonderful friends, making the journey even more special.

Well done, Kathy! We can’t wait to keep this story going for many more years and celebrate many more summits together.

All the best to the Valletta family!
Kilimanjaro has so much more to offer than just reaching the summit. The Valletta family is hiking the Lemosho Route on a 4-night, 5-day adventure to Shira Cathedral, then continuing to Moir Camp (4,200 m ASL).
It’s one of the best ways to experience the mountain—taking in spectacular scenery, enjoying high-altitude camping, and embracing the journey itself.
And what’s next? Perhaps the summit… or perhaps another adventure elsewhere.
Grateful for the opportunity.

After many years doing what matters on Kilimanjaro, ensuring trash in also comes out, we're happy to see that Leave No Trace principles are slowly being recognized by the national park and its many stakeholders.
Each year during the low season, the park invites mountain tour operators to assist in mountain clean ups. We're proud to bring a team of guides, porters and operations to collect and carry out trash on different routes. This year, a team of 16 from SENE spent three days on the Machame Route, removing 216 kg of trash.
A big thank you to everyone involved for the hard work! Every bag carried down helps keep Kilimanjaro a little better for those who follow.

Next up in our "meet the team" series is Manase S Kessy!

Manase has been part of the SENE family for over 10 years, working as a porter and server. What he enjoys most is the support it provides, along with fair wages and accommodation.
When he’s not helping our guests on the trails, Manase is busy expanding his craft as a carpenter. He likes to start his mornings in his carpentry workshop building out his projects. As a home base, Manase splits his time between Sakina in Arusha and time with his 3 children in Marangu.

Asante Sana Manase!

More behind the scenes from our recent trip with 23 climbers, as part of our ongoing partnership with . This was a special visit, combining trail running as part of the Kili Trails Festival, to a cultural experience in the Masaii village, to a 4-day safari, and finally a summit of Mount Kilimanjaro.
Everyone came back safe and smiling, supported by 82 crew members from SENE.

Next up in our 'Meet the Team' series is Shabiri Kyonda!

Shabiri has been working as a porter for SENE for over three years. Outside of work, he also farms his own food for consumption, particularly maize.
He lives with his family of four in Ugweno, located in the Mwanga District of the Kilimanjaro region.
His daily routine is spent on the farm from morning until evening, and he one day hopes to expand his work into a business.

Asante Sana Shabiri!
