Uhuru Expeditions

Uhuru Expeditions Our guide team is made up of entirely local guides from Tanzania with many years experience guiding on Kilimanjaro. We speak English, Italian and Spanish.

What makes Uhuru Expeditions different from guiding companies in your homeland is that our guide team is made up of entirely local guides from Tanzania with many years experience guiding on Kilimanjaro. We use those years of experience to make a better door-to-door expedition by working directly with our clients to design the adventure they have always dreamed of. And, since we come from different

tribes all over Tanzania we can make your cultural experience here one to remember. Please ask about other languages. Our guides have training in wildlife and environmental studies to help you learn about our country while on tour or climbing the mountains. We have first aid training to help make your climb and other adventures safe. On Kilimanjaro we keep track of each client and team member by recording their pulse and oxygen saturation in the blood each morning before leaving camp and every evening before dinner. We carry a P.A.C. (portable altitude chamber) in the event of altitude sickness. Uhuru Expeditions uses hotels to accommodate any budget. Some examples: Salsadenero, Impala hotel, Kilema Kyaro Hotel, Zebra hotel and Keys Hotel in Moshi. Please let us know if you have special requests or needs for your hotel stay in Tanzania. Our ideal clients are those who are ready to share culture and adventure with local Tanzanians in their native land. Clients who are ready to work directly with local guides and rather than middlemen or brokers. We like to work with people who have respect for the environment and appreciate the natural beauty Tanzania has to offer. We can also help those people who feel they may have some physical difficulties climbing Kilimanjaro or one of our other adventures.

Did you know that Uhuru guide, Tunzo, has over 20 years of experience guiding on Kilimanjaro?

24/02/2012

I wanted to share this company with my FB friends. Tunzo, the owner of Uhuru, did a great job of organizing our trip. He was born and raised in Tanzania and has been guiding on Kilimanjaro for over 20 years. We felt like he was very thorough and professional. His guides and porters were all great people and we enjoyed getting to know them. They run a safe operation and know how to organize the trip to maximize your success of reaching the summit of this 19,300 ft mountain. They also carry emergency equipment just in case. The food was outstanding and more than we could eat everyday.

The safari was outstanding. The visit to the Masaii village and camping over the great Rift valley was our favorite part of the whole trip. The accommodations in the Serengetti and NgoroNgoro were over the top.

We wanted to go with a local company but sometimes its difficult to know if it is a good company. Tunzo and Uhuru Expeditions came highly recommended by friends of ours. So we wanted to make sure and pass this along to anyone who is thinking about traveling to Tanzania.
