Arusha National Park has so much to offer…

Though it’s one of the smaller parks in Tanzania, it boasts an incredible variety of landscapes.

From the towering presence of Mount Meru- Tanzania’s second-highest peak- to vast grasslands and lush forests, it’s a haven for nature lovers 💚

The park is also home to over 400 bird species, making it a paradise for birdwatchers!

At Tanzania Journeys, we believe travel should be as meaningful as it is memorable. That’s why we create tailor-made experiences that are both comfortable and sustainable.
We love supporting local communities and protecting Tanzania’s rich natural and cultural heritage every step of the way 💙

The footprints you see are not just any prints- they were left in mud by an elephant!

🐘 Elephants are true walkers- they usually walk around 3 to 6 miles a day (10km) foraging for food and water.

🐘 These traces could potentially be made by a male elephant as female elephants tend to spend most of their time in clans with other members.

🐘 Elephants are also astonishingly intelligent- they have a great memory and can remember paths to water sources even after many years.

🐘 It’s also worth mentioning the extraordinary empathy that elephants exhibit- they can cheer up the upset members of their herd and also protect the weak individuals by circling them.

Next time you’re on a safari, look out for these note-worthy traces!

Any scorpion enthusiasts here? 🦂

Meet the Yellow Fat-Tailed Scorpion! This creepy crawler calls the dry, desert regions of Africa and the Middle East home.
It looks intimidating, but it’s also a fascinating creature.

🦂 Yellow Fat-Tailed Scorpions have a tough outer shell that can withstand sandstorms strong enough to strip the paint off steel. Unlike other scorpions, they don’t bother hiding in the sand.

🦂 Under UV light, they glow a bright green! This protects the scorpions from predators and the Sun.

🦂 They can live up to 5 years in the wild and mainly feast on small insects and even other scorpions!

🦂 Their venom is among the most dangerous in the world, capable of causing serious damage to nerves, the heart, and other vital organs.

🦂 These scorpions are nocturnal, hunting for food during the night and seeking shelter under rocks during the day to avoid the desert heat.

So, next time you’re on a safari, keep your eyes open for these small but mighty creatures!

Banana beer, anyone? 🍌🍺

This traditional Tanzanian brew has deep cultural roots- especially in the Kilimanjaro region, where it’s called mbege.
Depending on where you go, the name may change, but the spirit of community stays the same!

Mbege is traditionally brewed by women using traditional methods passed down through generations.

Want to try making it yourself? Here’s the basic process:

1. Peel bananas, cook, and mash into a thick porridge
2. Let the mash ferment for a few days
3. Cook millet flour into a similar porridge
4. Mix both porridges and ferment again
5. Filter through banana leaves
6. Serve fresh—and share with friends! 😄

This isn’t just a drink. It’s a taste of Tanzania’s heritage 🇹🇿.

Rest on the way to the summit is a crucial part of the Kilimanjaro excursion. Usually, our travellers will walk between 3 and 6 miles per day, with 15 miles on the summit day. The camps are where climbers can recharge, acclimatise, and gather strength for the journey ahead 🔋.

🎉 Hongera sana Abou and Lemra 🎉

We’re proud to announce that both have officially became certified Wilderness First Responders. This is a major achievement in outdoor safety and emergency response.

With this advanced training, our team is now even more prepared to handle emergencies in wild and remote terrain.

Abou continues to lead the way as a skilled mountain guide and Lemra, a passionate local guide, also serves as the lead on our Ngorongoro Highland Trek.

Banana and coffee- two crops that thrive together.

🌱 They’re often grown side by side to optimize farming conditions- taller banana trees provide shade, while their fallen leaves enrich the soil with nutrients.

🌱 This traditional intercropping method, common in the Kilimanjaro region, supports biodiversity, conserves water, and helps prevent soil erosion.

🌱 It’s a beautiful example of how local farming practices can be both productive and sustainable!

We wish you a fulfilling week filled with joy, family and new adventures! 🩵📸
