NYERERE NATIONAL PARK - [SELOUS GAME RESERVE] 🤩💚

At 30,893 square kilometers, the vast Nyerere National Park is Africa’s largest stand alone National Park and one of the largest in the world. The park is located in south Eastern Tanzania, roughly 230 kilometers by road from Dar es Salaam city to Mtemere Gate, and was carved out from the Selous Game reserve, a huge wilderness area and safari destination in Southern Tanzania.

Nyerere Park boasts of the largest concentration of wild animals and a rich collection of wildlife that is abundant and diverse. The fact that this park is new and largely less frequented by tourists means that the animals here tend to be less exposed to humans. Good numbers of Big Cats such as Lion, Leopard, Cheetah are to be found here along with other large Game animals such as Elephant, Rhino, Buffalo, Giraffe, Eland, Zebra, Wildebeest and other wildlife. 

With the new establishment of this park by the Tanzania Government and TANAPA [Tanzania National Parks Authority] in late 2019, it is expected that the park will be developed further and managed more professionally for a better tourism experience. 🌿

zanzibar.tour Is Zanzibar safe? This is the one question I received quite a lot during my time in Zanzibar. The simplest answer is yes!

The island is as safe as it could be and as safe as you want it to be. I’m not going to lie, I was a little nervous & apprehensive when I had booked this trip last minute & reading up on various sites to prepare myself of what to expect. I’m so happy I was proved wrong.

As tourism is the primary source of income in Zanzibar, the local authorities take the safety of tourists very seriously. While the island itself is very safe, it is nevertheless prudent to exercise caution when you are out and about.

Here are some Tips on what you can do for your safety if Zanzibar is on your plans:

1. Leave your valuables at home - The people of Zanzibar are very poor and foreigners who can afford a trip to the islands are generally considered to be far richer by the locals. A general rule leave your valuables such as jewelry or watches, in the safety box of your hotel.

2. Show respect for local traditions - Being a predominantly Islamic region, Zanzibaris are conservative in their clothing. While vacationing in the islands, try to dress modestly, especially while traveling in remote areas. Ensure that your knees and shoulders are covered, and avoid wearing short skirts and pants. Public displays of affection are generally frowned upon.

3. Use reputable companies - I can’t stress enough on this, but always use reputable travel companies/tour guides from arrivals from the airport to venturing out to the City. Most hotels offer airport pickups/drop offs it is safer to arrange it through them than picking up someone from the streets. Yes you may end up paying a little more but having a peace of mind is far greater.

4. Walking on the Zanzibar beach or deserted streets at night is a NO NO!

A long sand beach, shallow waters and wind at almost any day of the year – this is a perfect spot for kite surfing! Top it up with wide selection of hotels of different price ranges, especially from the lower end of the spectrum.

But no need to be a kite surfer to fully enjoy the east coast of Zanzibar. There are plenty of things to do in and around Paje. It’s a great base when you want to explore the island and nearby waters. 💦🤗| .tour Cc
