PRISON ISLAND TOUR (CHANGUU ISLAND)

Is a relaxation excursion that takes half-day on the beautiful island off the Zanzibar Town. The use of the island has changed overtime. Although it was originally built as a prison it was never put into that function. Later it was used as a quarantine of slaves for the whole of East Africa. The remnants of the built are still visible. The island offers a stunning view of the Town especially during the night; there is very beautiful minor sandy beach where swimming on the crystal waters is marvelous. The coral reefs surrounding the island provide an opportunity of snorkeling. This is also a home of the giant tortoise which from Seychelles, which is now under strict conservation. Departure from the hotel at 5:30 a.m., then flight at 7:30 a.m. to Mikumi National Park. Upon arrival at Mikumi airstrip at 08:30, you will be greeted by the driver-guide who will brief you about your Mikumi safari. After a brief briefing, you will set off on a safari in a 4x4 safari vehicle in Mikumi National Park, exploring the game in the surrounding area, from your seat for a comfortable and privileged journey through the wild African bush. You can expect to see one of Africa's favorite major animals including elephant, giraffes, lions, buffalo, zebras and leopards

A picnic will be offered at midday where the Nungwi Africom Tours Safaris guide will select a place with shade and water nearby to watch the animals come to drink - a place with a clear view all around so that no predators can hide. Late in the afternoon, you will be transferred to the airstrip for your scheduled flight at 4:00 p.m. to Zanzibar.

Stop at Stone town
While you wonder around the city, your guide will take you on a historical and cultural journey through the old slave market, Darajani market place, the House of Wonders, the Old Fort and the Sultanโ€™s Palace. Tour also includes a lunch in a restaurant or in a local house, if agreed beforehand. While the tour is only half a day, we recommend you to stay in Stone Town for at least two days to discover many more magnificent wonders. Forodhani Gardens is definitely worth a visit, especially at night when it comes alive as one of the best street food markets in East Africa.

Stop at Spice tour
The Spice Tour is one of the most popular excursions in Zanzibar, the Spice Island. It got its nick name as a result of being one of the worldโ€™s leading producers of spices such as clove, nutmeg and cinnamon in the 19th century. Spices and herbs were originally introduced to Zanzibar by Portuguese traders in the 16th century, brought from their colonies in South America and India. This tour is a walking tour in a spice farm (shamba). While there, you shall see how the spices, herbs and fruits grow and are cultivated. Your tour guide will describe how the crops can be used. You will be smelling and tasting spices, herbs and tropical fruits such as clove, lemongrass, nutmeg, cinnamon, turmeric, vanilla, coconuts, papaya, chili, black pepper, jackfruit, cardamom, cassava and oranges.

Stop at Jozani Forest
The forest is best known for its kirks red colobus monkeys (kima punju in swahili), which are endemic to Zanzibar. About 10 years ago, the monkeys were considered to be in danger of extinction, but this trend has since reversed due to the conservation project. There are about 6000 red colobus monkey residing in Jozani Forest. Jozani Forest has several habitats including swamp forest, evergreen thickets, mangroves, as well as a variety of wildlife.
