Mamas of Zanzibar We are a group of passionate Zanzibari women eager to share our rich cultural cuisines and traditional dishes with you! Our day starts 08:00hrs - 13:00hrs.

By joining us you will unlock a side of Zanzibar tourist don't get to experience. You will get a hands-on classes from our homes on how to learn how to cook authentic Zanzibari food. Our menus has rich exotic island flavours and aromas overviewed by a professional chefs. We are vegetarian friendly and are happy to cater to special dietary, share your dietary in details and we shall do our best to pick a custom menus accordingly!

My deepest passion has always been to preserve and introduce the identity of Zanzibar to the world — through our food, our gastronomy, the way we dress, our traditions, and most importantly, through the women who carry this heritage forward.

For me, Mamas of Zanzibar is more than a tourist experience. It is a bridge between our culture and the world. It is an opportunity for the women of Zanzibar to have a voice, to be seen, to share their stories, and to proudly represent the living heritage of our islands.

From the Bui Bui la Kamba and Khanga we wear, to the recipes passed down through generations, every detail tells a story of who we are.

I believe tourism should not simply take people to a destination — it should connect them to its people, respect its culture, preserve its traditions, and create meaningful opportunities for its communities.

This is why I continue to build Mamas of Zanzibar with purpose:
Heritage. Gastronomy. Culture. Tradition. Women Empowerment. Sustainable Tourism.

Because when the world experiences Zanzibar, I want them to experience Zanzibar through the heritage keepers - the women who live it. - Maskat
