Right now we cannot run our Made in Zanzibar tour and take you to the Dhow Countries Music Academy - but in this documentary, let the academy come to you 🎶

This CNN documentary is a wonderful virtual tour to the musical life of Stone Town!

Thanks to a trailblazing academy and a grassroots record label, young artists are boldly fusing Tanzania's traditional taarab sounds with modern music styles. Meet the Musical Mavericks of Zanzibar.

Did you know that with every tour we do, we aim at benefitting the local community? This story is about our popular tour Zesty Zanzibar, and how it has changed lives.

On the tours, Faama opens her own home for visitors to see. It's unusual, and often the kids in the village are very curious about what is happening.

If you visit Stone Town, you cannot miss seeing all the cats - stray cats mostly. Zaaso is doing amazing work rescuing and neutering the street cats. If you felt like you want to do something to help, now is a great chance to help them open a clinic in town!

KITTEN SEASON
Stone Town and Zanzibar Island get a lot of small new fluffy residents these days! Paka mdogo as we say in Kiswahili and they are very cute and lovable but unfortunately many of them do not have a home and end up as street cats, if they survive.
So many of you animal friends out there contact us daily with needs of cat treatments and sterilisations.
At our site in Mwera we are overcrowded with cats but we are still trying to get a cat clinic in Stone Town and are close to succeed! Having a clinic in town should give us the possibility to help and treat more cats. In the area where the majority of cats are found and hopefully assist to keep the population down.

ZAASO is run on your donations. We are truly grateful for all the support we receive. Where even the smallest donations makes a huge difference.

Asanteni sana 🙏
