Inclusion in XR isn’t just about content — it’s about who can physically use the system. Today’s VR setups often fail people with disabilities: controllers are too rigid, interfaces lack support for screen readers or alternative input, and haptic feedback isn’t built for those with mobility impairments.
At UTSA, researchers collaborate with users with visual, auditory, and physical limitations to completely rethink XR hardware and interaction design. From AI-driven navigation to adaptive controllers, they aim to ensure that access to virtual worlds isn't limited by real-world bodies.
