Actually you can ride in this county almost all year round. Here are just several tips about the most famous locations:
1. Cappadocia. Famous for fairy chimneys landscape, underground cities, hot air balloon flights, horses and rich Christian history. Summer is hot and dry (+25-35C), winter is cold (up to -15C), spring and autumn are mild and comfortable for riding. Best time to visit: May and October. Rainy months: April, November. Not recommended in winter (rain, wet snow and ice make a lot of paths dangerous or not accessible, cold for long hours in the saddle).
2. Mediterranean coast (Antalya). Famous for antic mythology (Pegasus the winged horse legend, Lycian Way trekking route), turquoise beaches (sea turtles nestling places), pine tree and cedar forests. Summer is super hot and humid (+35-50C), winter is mild (+10-15C), spring and autumn warm and fresh (+18-25C). Best time to visit: for swimming with horses - June, September, October (best); for comfortable riding and chance to feel 4 seasons in one day - April, May and November (snow in the mountains and heat at the seaside). Sea is still warm in November and December. Not recommended in January, February and March - heavy rain season with lowest temperatures (up to -5C in the mountains).
3. Shanli Urfa & Harran. Famous as the birthplace of human civilization known as ancient Mesopotamia. The most authentic part of Turkey. The place of the 1st human city and temple older than pyramids and Stonehenge. The land is stoney flat steppe mostly with some rocks and caves. Summer is super hot and dry, winter is cold and snowy. Best time to visit: April, May and October, November. Not recommended: summer (no shadow at all), winter (cold and extreme wind).
