Gorilla 🦍 tracking is one of the most popular tourist activities in Uganda and Rwanda. The species here are the “Mountain Gorillas” and are only found in Uganda’s: Bwindi Impenetrable and Mgahinga Gorilla National Parks, Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park and DR Congo’s Virunga National Park.

Apart from Bwindi, the rest of these parks are in the Virunga Massif Area which is made of 8 volcanoes that stretch from DRC, through Rwanda to Uganda.

Uganda has 4 trail heads on the edges of the Bwindi Forest park: In the North is Buhoma, Ruhija in the East, Nkuringo and Rushaga in the south, Muhabura at Mgahinga and Kinigi or Visoke for Rwanda.
