*AMAZING FACTS ABOUT LIONS*
Lions are the most social species of cats. A pride of lions usually consists of 6 to 20 females along with 1or 2 males and the group's cubs.

The lion is a symbol of strength, power and ferocity. A lion's roar is the loudest of any big cat and can be heard up to 8km away.

They have terrific night vision and they are 6 times more sensitive to light than humans. Lions are the laziest of the big cats spending up to 20 hours a day sleeping / resting.

*BEHAVIOR*
Lions can go up to four days without drinking water. Adult lionesses eat about 11 pounds of meat each day while adult lions eat up to 16 pounds of meat each day. They prey on large herbivores like zebra among others and also feed on smaller animals like mice, hares etc.

Lionesses are the primary hunters and do most of the hunting. Lions hunt by ambush. Lions can reach a speed of 50 miles per hour and can jump up to 36 feet. They communicate using roars, growls, moans and grunts. Females in the pride give birth around the same time. Mating between lions is an intense affair.

Lions literally give birth to a litter every two years and cubs typically nurse for six months but start eating meat at three months.

Their gestation period is four months and the lioness sneaks away from the pride to give birth to a litter of two to six cubs. Lions live up to 15 years in the wild and 30 years in the zoos under human care.

The African Jacana is a wader in the family Jacanidae. It has long toes and long claws that enable it to walk on floating vegetation, in shallow lakes, it's habitat. The adult male and female are fairly similar in looks though the female is larger in size. The adult has rich chestnut to rufous-cinnamon upper parts, but rump and secondaries are darker and primaries are black. The black hind neck contrasts with the white fore neck. It's a noisy bird that utters sharp ringing krrrek. While flying, it gives a rattling screech.
It feeds on aquatic insects, larvae, worms and snails and other arthropods. Sometimes takes seeds when it forages on open cultivated areas. It searches for preys by walking on the floating vegetation. The female maintains a harem of multiple males for mating and after egg laying, each male will raise the brood alone.
