This Sunday adventure in Bigodi, Kamwenge District, led us through rich ecosystems, vibrant community sites, and unforgettable cultural encounters. From exploring the beauty of the area to visiting the famous Rest in Banana Site, every moment was filled with discovery.

Our guests enjoyed a unique hands-on experience in traditional banana brewing—watching fresh bananas prepared with leaves, learning the fascinating fermentation process, and discovering the heritage behind the locally distilled banana gin, waragi.

Golden monkey trekking in Rwanda takes place in the stunning bamboo forests of Volcanoes National Park. Permits cost $100 USD per person. Treks begin daily at the Kinigi park headquarters, and visitors are allowed one hour to observe and photograph these energetic, endangered primates.

The ExperienceThe Trek: Unlike gorilla trekking, which can take a full day and test your endurance, golden monkey tracking is a much more relaxed, faster hike. The trek typically lasts between 3 to 5 hours (with total walking time often under an hour) as these monkeys stay in a relatively fixed zone near the base of the volcanoes.
