🌱 PLANT LIFE IN MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK
Murchison’s vegetation zones include savannah, woodland, wetland, and riverine forest. This creates rich botanical diversity.
🌾 Savannah Grasslands
Dominated by elephant grass, spear grass, and scattered acacia trees.
Perfect habitat for grazers like kobs, oribi, and hartebeest.
🌳 Woodland & Riverine Forest
Home to Borassus palms, tamarind trees, mahogany, and fig trees.
Riverine forests near the Nile offer shade and food for monkeys and birds.
🌿 Rare or Iconic Plants
Whistling Thorn Acacia – With symbiotic ants that protect the tree.
Wild date palms – Lining wetland areas.
Ferns and climbers – In moist forest patches near the falls.
🌊 And of course… MURCHISON FALLS!
Where the Nile explodes through a narrow gorge—one of the most powerful waterfalls on Earth. The mist around the falls supports unique moisture-loving plant species.
