*Trip to the Cycads Village in Mpanga Gorge Kitagwenda District with Fort Portal City Walkers Saturday 15th March 2025*

*Meeting Point:* Near ABSA Bank in Fort Portal City at 7:00am

*The Journey:* Drive to Karubuguma Village in Ntara Kitagwenda District via Kamwenge District

*Activities*
Drive thru Kibale National with experience of flora and fauna viewing.

Trek the Cycads Village in a community guided tour, slope to the gorge at Mpanga River.

Take a waterfall swimming experience and a waterfall massage at the upper waterfall on River Mpanga in the Gorge

Tour through Coffee farms in mpanga Gorge in the cycads village

Trek down the slopes and cliffs of Mpanga gorge to the lower and main waterfall of River Mpanga

Hike the Gorge uphill thru the cycads village before driving back to Kamwenge Town for Lunch

*Attractions*
Experience Kibale forest with its different fauna and flora species.

Experience the cycad plants which are endemic to Africa and naturally growing only in South Africa and Mpanga Gorge.

Scenic views of Lake George, Kazinga channel, Queen Elizabeth National Park and Mt Rwenzori

Hiking the rocks and cliffs of the Mpanga Gorge

Swimming in low and high speed waterfalls.

Meeting new people, making friends and fun.

*Preparation*
Some areas are bushy, steep and may be slippery. Prepare good hiking shoes and clothes
Prepare swiming clothes or changing clothes after water interactions.
Park a snack and enough drinking water, it may take long to and fro the gorge.

*General Experience* Trekking Mpanga Gorge is one of the most beautiful outdoor experiences, some parts of it may be hard for an average hiker or beginner, but all in all it is a rewarding experience. Get ready to make the most out of it. Expect to return to Fort Portal late, tired and dirty.

*Trip fees:* 30,000/ for transport to and from Fort Portal and guide fees. Carry extra money for Lunch and other needs as this fee doesn't cater for lunch.
