About

Gateway to the East was founded by Ugandan Emmanuel Sseruyange, and Jodian Williams a former volunteer in Uganda. Emmanuel Sseruyange is an aircraft maintenance engineer, he has spent much time in Kenya where he had first hand experience working closely with tourists during their flights to various parts of Africa. Know matter the purpose of travel, visitors always expressed a resounding desire to return and further explore Eastern Africa. Jodian Williams is a registered nurse from England, and Ugandan expat of 2009. During the time spent volunteering, not only was she captivated by Ugandans natural beauty and vibrant atmosphere, she was able to witness first hand how investing in local people boosted moral and impacted communities. This priceless experience left a lasting impression, which she desires to share so others can encounter the true essence of Uganda. The duo partnered their passions for travel and adventure to create an agency with a motive of taking you through the Pearl of Africa and Eastern Africa at large.

Gateway to the East aims to be the first choice for travel and tourism in East Africa. Our tours are focused on sustainable tourism by engaging our visitors not only with main stream activities but also sharing areas and activities which are offbeat encouraging visitors to engage with locals. GWTTE wants to create a sense of responsibility amongst our visitors once a holiday is over, and pictures are posted its not the end for locals their lives and homes remain. In view of this being sustainable for GWTTE directly means protecting nature and those who call Uganda home, whilst ensuring visitors experience the best Ugandan and the surrounding Eastern Africa has to offer.
