🌿 Uganda Railway Museum Champions Sustainable Development Education!

Yesterday we hosted a vibrant Schools’ open day, bringing together over 300 learners and 20 teachers from Destiny Christian Primary School located in Jinja City to explore how heritage institutions can nurture a culture of sustainability.

Organized under the framework of our ongoing efforts to revitalise the Museum as a Centre for Sustainable Development Education, a project funded by ICOM_SUSTAIN, an international Committee under the International Council of Museums (ICOM). This activity was also designed to align with the 2025 World Tourism Day theme, "Tourism and Sustainable Transformation"

The day featured guided museum tours, sustainability talks, interactive art sessions, and a donation of 200 fruit tree seedlings to both pupils and teachers. This donation was made by the Catholic Youth Network for Environmental Sustainability in Africa (CYNESA).

Pupils also made eco-promises_ personal commitments to protect the environment and promote cleaner and greener communities.

By merging heritage learning with environmental action, the Uganda Railway Museum continues to inspire young people to take part in building a sustainable future for all.
