This is a tourism based agriculture and farming as well as their culture for sustainable program. Many people have come up with community tourist, Echo tourism but without looking at a broader way of life in communities and how communities can benefit from Tourism as the conservers of nature for future generation’s use. Tourism based on agriculture and rural culture heritage is one of the fastest growing sectors in the tourism industry. It seeks to optimize the beauty and learning experiences gained through interacting with agriculture, unique cultures and natural landscape. Because it is promoted on a small scale involving education of both visitors and areas visited, community tourism is environmentally and socially sustainable. It is one approach through which local communities can meaningfully and gainfully participate in tourism ventures, agri-Tourism based tourism with a focus on small-scale locally designed and operated activities that benefit clients, communities and the environment can be part of a strategy for sustainable income.
In Uganda mostly western Uganda region there is a unique agriculture methods hardly you can find any where in the world. Agriculture practices with terracing, land fragmentation, cultural heritages, events (eg harvesting seasons, wedding, give away parties), storytelling, cultural dances, mixed cropping are unique farming practices that can be exploited for agri-tourism. These can be made attractive as part of a wider tourism arrangement in the area. Some of the ideas on how farming methods can form part of a tourism business are highlighted below.
