There’s nothing quite like seeing a herd of zebras on the open plains. Black and white stripes flashing against golden grass, foals staying close to mom, and the whole group moving together like one. It’s wild, it’s beautiful, and it’s something you’ll never forget.

With *Cream Tours and Safaris*, zebra sightings happen almost every day on safari. In *Tanzania*, the *Serengeti and Tarangire* are full of them — especially during the Great Migration when thousands of zebras travel with the wildebeest. In *Uganda*, you’ll find them grazing in *Lake Mburo National Park* and *Kidepo Valley National Park*, often right next to giraffes, impalas, and buffalo.

Zebras are more than just pretty. Each zebra’s stripes are unique, like fingerprints. They use those stripes to confuse predators and to keep flies away. Our expert guides love sharing these little facts while we watch them from a safe distance. We take our time, so you get great photos and a real moment to connect with nature.

Whether it’s your first safari or your fifth, zebras always bring a smile. They remind us why we love Africa — wide open spaces, amazing animals, and memories made together.

Hidden in northeastern Tanzania are the *Usambara Mountains* — often called the “African Alps.” If you’re looking for something different from the classic safari, this is it. Think cool mountain air, misty rainforests, endless tea farms, and villages full of warmth and stories. It’s peaceful, green, and feels like a world away from the crowds.

The Usambaras have two parts: *East Usambara* and *West Usambara*. East Usambara is home to *Amani Nature Reserve*, one of Africa’s most important biodiversity hotspots. The ancient forest here is full of rare birds, chameleons, butterflies, and plants that exist nowhere else on earth. West Usambara centers around the town of *Lushoto* and is perfect for hiking. The views from the ridges stretch for miles over valleys and farms. It’s the ideal place for walking safaris, photography, and cultural visits with the local Shambaa people.

With *Cream Tours and Safaris*, we make Usambara easy and personal. Our local guides will take you on forest walks to spot endemic birds like the Usambara weaver and Usambara eagle owl. You’ll visit spice farms, learn about traditional healing plants, and hike to viewpoints for sunrise. We can also combine Usambara with a classic northern circuit safari or a relaxing beach trip to Zanzibar — so you get wildlife, mountains, and ocean in one trip.

If you want fresh air, real culture, and nature without the rush, Usambara is waiting for you. It’s the perfect 2-3 day add-on between safari and beach.

*A MORNING WITH UGANDA’S ROYALTY*

There’s something special about seeing Uganda’s national bird in the wild. The Grey Crowned Crane stands tall in the green grass, golden crown shining and red throat patch glowing in the morning light. Elegant, calm, and full of character — they truly look like royalty.

This photo was taken in one of Uganda’s beautiful wetlands, where these cranes gather to feed, socialize, and dance. Yes, dance! They bow, leap, and call to each other as a way to bond. They even mate for life, which is why you’ll often see them in pairs or small groups like this.

At *Cream Tours and Safaris*, we believe birdwatching is more than just ticking species off a list. It’s about slowing down and connecting with nature. Our expert local guides know exactly where to find the crested crane and other 1,000+ bird species Uganda is famous for. Top spots include *Lake Mburo National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, and Lake Bunyonyi*.

We keep our groups small so you get time, space, and the best views for photos just like this one. And we make it easy — from permits and transport to lodges and meals, everything is handled so you can focus on the experience.

Uganda is called the “Pearl of Africa” for a reason. From mountain gorillas to this graceful national bird, every day here brings a new wonder.
