From scanning the skies for a rare bird call to mentoring the next generation of African safari guides, few people live and breathe the wild quite like Johnnie.
Over 25 years ago, Johnnie Kamugisha set out into the Ugandan wilderness with a pair of binoculars, a passion for wildlife, and a big dream: to share the magic of the Pearl of Africa with the world.
Today, as the founder of Johnnie Uganda Safaris, he has done just that. Johnnie has guided travelers from every corner of the globe to spot their dream wildlife—from the iconic, prehistoric Shoebill Stork to the lions of the savanna. But his legacy goes even deeper. Over the years, Johnnie has poured his heart into training and mentoring countless young guides, passing on his deep knowledge and building a community of passionate stewards for Africa's nature.
On his birthday, we celebrate a true legend, master guide, and mentor.
