Some of the things you should know before going on safari.

1: Be prepared for changing temperatures. While mornings can be chilly, midday temperatures can get quite hot. Layered clothing will help you stay comfortable through the day

2: while seeing the big five is exciting, a safari is more than that. Along the way, you will encounter avian wildlife, and so many fascinating animals. Not forgetting the 2 primates (chimps and gorillas) which makes up the Big 7 in Uganda and Rwanda.

3: Safari Game drives usually begin early in the mornings when it is still cool and animals are most active. This time gives you a chance to see wildlife. Sunset time is also a good time to see more wildlife.

4: Never leave your safari vehicle unless Instructed by your guide, as they are trained to ensure your safety.

5: Keep your voice low to avoid disturbing the animals. And please don't feed them or litter in the parks.

6: Depending on when you visit, the sun can be stronger than you think , particularly near the equator. Make sure to bring a hat, sunscreen and sunglasses for protection.

7: Having a scarf, bandana or buff, sunglasses , wet wipes will help you with the dust during dry seasons. Using cushions and sitting properly also helps with the bumpy drives. Do not hesitate to ask your guide/ driver to slow down if the ride is rough.

8: A camera and a pair of binoculars are essential on safari. Camera - to capture the safari memories and the binoculars to narrow down your field of view without disturbing nature.

Karamojong Tribe Visit:

The Karamonjong are a semi- nomadic cattle herders who live a subsistence lifestyle off the barren land of Northeast Uganda. Living in manyattas (traditional homesteads), they share roots with the Maasai and Turkana. They live in a big large extended family , and family ties is highly noted, as life among them is communal. Their pride is in their cattle, a man is valued according to how many cattle he has in his Kraal.

When you visit these people;
- you will learn about the rich and untamed cultural traditions first hand, like the blood- letting of the cattle.
- you get to contribute to the preservation of an authentic and ancient culture.
- one gets to experience the vibrant culture of the Karamonjong which includes storytelling by elders, energetic jumping dances and visits to manyattas.

One can combine visiting this community with game drives in kidepo valley national park, one rarely visited and yet endowed with so much in its wilderness.

"Karamonjong" is derived from the phrase "ekar ngimojong" , meaning " the old men can walk no further".

Come enjoy an unforgettable experience that connects you to the people of the African continent, not just the wildlife

Ibyiwacu cultural village.

Now known as the Gorilla Guardian Village in Rwanda, Ibyiwacu cultural village is one of the incredibly cultural places that make Rwanda an amazing destination and a must visit while on a safari in Volcanoes national Park. This village started as a response to gorilla poaching which was carried out by some members of the community and was on the increase in spite of the park recruiting more rangers for the protection of the endangered mountain gorillas. This village has given people a chance to earn a living while keeping away from poaching.

A community visit to this village gives you a chance to meet local people , in their environment, learning and experiencing their culture , traditions and day to day lives.

Ibyiwacu is a kinyarwanda word meaning "treasures of our home and heritage ". Come and experience this community visit with us.

A Night Safari.

A guided night game drive is one of Africa's iconic wildlife adventures done in national parks, reserves and Conservancies that takes place between 7pm to 9pm , often following an evening sundowner. Night game drives are led by armed ranger guides for safety and there is use of strong spotlights to illuminate animals in the dark. Common sightings include lions, leopards, hippos, genets, porcupines, civet cats, bush babies, hyenas, aardvarks and so much more. If lucky, one will get to have intimate views of predators hunting , and elusive species active only after dark.

These experiences can be done ;
In Kenya: Ol pejata conservancy (laikipia), Lewa wildlife conservancy, Naboisho, Olare Motorogi Conservancy, Samburu National Reserve.
In Rwanda: Akagera NP
In Tanzania: Lake Manyara NP, Tarangire NP, Ruaha NP
In Uganda: Murchison falls NP, Lake Mburo NP, Queen Elizabeth NP.

What to wear and carry on a night game drive:
Prioritize warmth, comfort and protection by layering clothing in neutral tones like khaki, olive and beige. Wear long trousers and long sleeves shirts to protect against insect bites and cool evening breezes.

A good pair of binoculars enhances your ability to spot wildlife from a distance. A camera helps you capture memorable moments.

While on a night safari, patience and quietness is key plus trusting your guides as well. Wildlife often appears when you least expect it.

For the safari goers, exploring the bush at night gives you an exciting experience spotting animals as you enjoy the unique ambiance that the nighttime brings to your safari adventure.

Come let's discover the wonders that come live under the cover of darkness in the African wild.
