The Most powerful falls in the World.
Uganda's Murchison Falls are the most powerful waterfall in the World. At Murchison Falls, River Nile - the World's longest river, with all its volume, is compressed into a narrow space of 7 meters.
The resulting force of the water as it passes through this narrow space and other narrow spaces 43m down the falls makes Murchison Falls the most powerful waterfall in the World.
Because of this force and the thunderous roar created as the water passes through the 7m space, this space is called "Devil’s cauldron"; and it's a unique tourist attraction at Murchison Falls.
The best way to see the River Nile squeezing itself through this 7m space is at the top of the falls which you can access by hiking after a boat cruise or by car. A boat cruise towards the boat of Murchison Falls allows you to see the River Nile water as it traverses through the falls' narrow spaces before becoming a stream again. These views are magnificent.
Murchison Falls are the basis for Murchison Falls National Park - Uganda's oldest and largest national park. The falls are located inside the national park.
Murchison Falls are also called Kabalega Falls after Chwa II Kabalega - a powerful 19th century Omukama (King) of Bunyoro Kingdom where the falls are located.
There is plenty of wildlife around Murchison Falls including buffaloes, hippos, crocodiles, antelopes, giraffes, lions, leopards, fish and birds. The waters just after Murchison Falls are a great place for sport fishing.
However, for safety reasons, it is not recommended to stand on top of the pillar close to the falls
