The Most powerful falls in the World.
Uganda's Murchison Falls are the most powerful waterfall in the World. At Murchison Falls, River Nile - the World's longest river, with all its volume, is compressed into a narrow space of 7 meters.
The resulting force of the water as it passes through this narrow space and other narrow spaces 43m down the falls makes Murchison Falls the most powerful waterfall in the World.
Because of this force and the thunderous roar created as the water passes through the 7m space, this space is called "Devil’s cauldron"; and it's a unique tourist attraction at Murchison Falls.
The best way to see the River Nile squeezing itself through this 7m space is at the top of the falls which you can access by hiking after a boat cruise or by car. A boat cruise towards the boat of Murchison Falls allows you to see the River Nile water as it traverses through the falls' narrow spaces before becoming a stream again. These views are magnificent.
Murchison Falls are the basis for Murchison Falls National Park - Uganda's oldest and largest national park. The falls are located inside the national park.
Murchison Falls are also called Kabalega Falls after Chwa II Kabalega - a powerful 19th century Omukama (King) of Bunyoro Kingdom where the falls are located.
There is plenty of wildlife around Murchison Falls including buffaloes, hippos, crocodiles, antelopes, giraffes, lions, leopards, fish and birds. The waters just after Murchison Falls are a great place for sport fishing.
However, for safety reasons, it is not recommended to stand on top of the pillar close to the falls

Gorilla Tracking.
Gorilla Tracking/Trekking is the most popular activity when visiting Mountain gorillas in Uganda. It allows you to find and follow gorillas on foot in the forests of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park or Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.
Gorilla tracking is also one of the most popular tourism activities in the World with the Ugandan experience being the best and most adventurous.
The gorillas being tracked are normally in their wild environment; which means they can move from one place to another in the forest or decide to stay in one place.
Tourists who are often led by a Uganda Wildlife Ranger, follow the gorillas and when they find them, everybody pauses to have a look at the gorillas and also take photos.
If in the process the gorillas decide to move, you get back to tracking them. Everyone who has done this has found it fulfilling.
Gorilla tracking begins with a briefing at 7am after which tourist groups of 8 people head to the forest to begin finding the gorillas. Each tourist group is assigned a gorilla family/group to track. There are 50 gorilla groups in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and 2 groups in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.
A gorilla group has up to 19 gorillas which are a family led by a leader - a dominant male silverback. A group can have other silverbacks who are subjective to the dominant silverback.
Gorilla tracking happens once a day per gorilla group. This is to make sure gorillas are not overly distracted by people and finding gorillas can take between 4 - 9 hours of tracking. If you are lucky, you'll find your gorilla group early.
A distance of 7 meters is required between the tourists and gorillas. This proximity to the gorillas has always amused people who find it amazing that you can be that close to the giant wild Mountain gorillas, who usually don't mind about human presence because of continuous exposure to humans.
A tracking certificate is issued after tracking; an event that is often joyful.
