The Karamojong people are believed to have migrated from Ethiopia in the late 1600 AD later getting divided into different groups. As others moved into Kenya, those believed to have got tired on the way and remained behind, occupied the Moroto mountain in the far east northern horn of Uganda🇺🇬 thus their name "KARAMOJONG" meaning "THE TIRED OLD MAN.’’
"NGAKARIMOJONG" is their language with a population measuring to over 370,000 people. Currently, those who tried to adopt the new way of life, have then migrated and living in urban centres and other different parts of the country.
Karamoja is one of the remote districts in Uganda and it does not receive many visitors. But due to the fact that, Kidepo valley national park, is situated along Moroto district, you can as well take time and visit the Karamojong people - the experience encountered is worth it, meeting this group of people with a strong belief and people who up to date, have embraced their culture and their traditional way of life which is rarely seen by some cultures in different parts of the country [ This cultural experience is on DAY 7...]
