Murchison Falls National Park - Home to the world's strongest waterfall.
Located in the north of Kampala, Murchison Falls National Park is Uganda's biggest National Park and also makes up Uganda's biggest conservation area.
The park is made up of upto 5 habitat types ranging from Forest, Open Savannah, Woodland, Riverine/swamp and bush habitats. These habitats are the reason for the abundant wildlife present in the park that includes the African Big Four; Lions, Leopards, Elephant and Buffalo plus lots antelope, warthogs, Jackals, the bat eared fox, among others.
Primates including Chimpanzee can be tracked in the Budongo Forest sector at Kaniyo Pabidi. Other primates include Black and White Colubus monkeys, olive baboons, vervet monkeys, Patas monkeys among others.
The park is home to a variety of bird species, moths, plus abundant shrub and plants.
The drive through the park gives you awesome scenic views of the woodlands, the open vast Savannah plains that are frequented by the big game plus the riverine views to the Delta point of Lake Albert.
A boat cruise on the Nile takes you to the bottom of the Murchison Falls, where you witness the magnificence of the world's strongest waterfall as the Nile squeezes through an eight meter narrow Gorge to plung 40 meters down. A hike up and down to the top of the falls takes you through a path with awesome views of this undeclared wonder of the world.
Hippos, the Nile crocodiles inhabit the long stretch of the Nile here, whilst a variety of beautiful birds decorate the banks. Elephants, buffalo, antelope and sometimes lions and leopards can be sighted on the banks of the Nile during the boat cruise to the bottom of the falls. Sunset / Sundowner cruises to the delta point are as well arranged.
