*UWA welcomes a forth baby gorilla at Bwindi in just less than 2 months!* Bwindi staff and partners today (Thursday, 27/Aug./2020) rose up to yet another ecstatic applause associated with birth of a bouncing new baby gorilla to mother (named _"Kibande"_) of the Rushegura gorilla family in Buhoma sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (BINP). Kibande's new birth marks her fifth surviving offspring and raises the Rushegura family size to 17 members. The birth further attests to mother Kibande as Rushegura family's most senior lady and king maker. Estimated to have been born on 2/Jan/1982, mother Kibande is now aged at least 38 years thus making her the most enduring gorilla family maker. Kibande's first born offspring is apparently a mature male (named _Karembezi_) who is *second in command of the Rushegura family.* Karembezi was born on 1/Mar./2001. Kibande's second offspring is a mature female (named _Munyana_) who *(coincidentally like the apparent birth)* was born on *27/Aug.*/2004! Munyana has already weaned her first born daughter (named _Kankwehe_) who also doubles as Grandma Kibande's first Granddaughter born on 28/Jul./2015. Kibande's third offspring is apparently a formidable Blackback (semi-mature male) named _Kanyiindo_ who was born on 15/Nov./2008; while her fourth offspring is apparently a vibrant Juvenile male (named _Barekye_) who was born on 5/Jan./2016. Grandma's latest delivery marks the *fourth birth of a baby gorilla in the Bwindi forest jungles in just less than 1 and half months* following three other prior consecutive gorilla births involving Adult female (AF) *Nyampazi* of the *Mubare family* that occurred on Wednesday *22/Jul./2020*, AF *Katoto* of the *Oruzogo family* that occurred on Saturday *25/Jul./2020* and one to a yet to be named AF in the *Busingye family* on Tuesday *28/Jul./2020.* We at Bwindi INP in particular and UWA at large continue to rejoice in these and other vivid indicators of positive conservation efforts despite the prevailing Covid-19 crisis.
