BREAKING: U.S. Pauses All Immigration Applications from 19 Countries
The Trump administration has halted ALL immigration processing — including green cards, citizenship, and pending applications — for people from 19 non-European countries, citing national security concerns.
This pause affects applicants for:
Green cards (I-485)
Citizenship/naturalization
Travel documents
Asylum cases
Other USCIS applications
Countries impacted:
Afghanistan, Somalia, Myanmar, Chad, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Sudan, Yemen, Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan, Venezuela.
The memo requires:
A complete hold on all pending applications
Mandatory re-review of each case
Possible re-interviews
Cancellation of scheduled ceremonies and interviews for affected applicants
The policy follows last week’s attack on U.S. National Guard members in Washington, which the administration linked to recent immigration rhetoric and enforcement changes.
USCIS has begun cancelling naturalization ceremonies, interviews, and adjustment appointments for individuals from the listed countries.
