Recently we were working on a Ugandan client looking for a Safari in Tsavo East. Given that Ever Based Tours and Travel is a Ugandan, we were debating between starting the itinerary either from Kampala or Nairobi.

But starting points presented a challenge of distance. Tsavo is in the far East of Kenya, even starting the itinerary from Nairobi left nearly 300km of road for our client to the Voi gate or Mtito-Andei.

Then it clicked; start the itinerary from Malindi! With the Malindi International Airport, the client would drive just 108km westward to the Sala gate.

Now with our agents in Kenya, the client will have an amazing 5 days as they view the animals in Kenya's largest game park

Various National parks across Uganda are shared with its neighbouring nations.

Most of these Parks are within the same conservation area as those in other countries.
These include Mgahinga and Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, which lie in the Virunga conservation area, with Parks such as Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda and Virunga National Park in Eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo.

However, only one National Park is truly shared, in the sense that it spans over two countries. This is Mt. Elgon National Park, which lies in both Ugandan and Kenyan territories. Uganda got the lion's share, as well as most of the physical attractions

Our tourist attractions can be also categorised as scenic and animalistic, due to lack of a better word. Tourists can come to see either animals or sceneries. The most selling parks have animals, but sceneries need love too🥲

Scenic National parks include Mt. Rwenzori National Park and Mt. Elgon, which is famous for having the world's largest caldera. Of course a few parks do have a mix of both. Mgahinga National Park is sold for its gorilla but also its 3 peaks, Gahinga, Muhavura and Sabinyo.

Kenya has way more diverse categories. Most of its parks are grounded in their respective distinctions for example, Tsavo National Park is specific with animals, while Chyulu Hills National Park plus Hells Gate are centred around their sceneries, with activities less about animals and more about indulging in the sceneries with hikes, rock climbing, and similar activities.

On top of it all, there's marine national parks. In looking at Kenyan tours, be open minded. Know that you can see some animals underwater. Pretty fascinating, right? 😃
