On Friday, Everbased TOURS represented at the fam trip of Tilapia Lodge under Woodland Lodges. It is a good accommodation for a birding tour at Mabamba swamp. The lodge is serene, with boat cruises to view the sunset and sunrise. One can request for a boat ride up to the Equator, which is visible from the lodge, a few nautical miles from land.

The Lodge is also on the opposite side of the Entebbe Bay (meaning it is on mainland and can be accessed from Masaka road off Mpigi.

The African safari is changing and I think Uganda needs to pay attention.

For years, the formula was simple:

Safari vehicle.

Game drive.

Big Five, or gorilla trekking

Luxury lodge.

Repeat.

But the traveller of 2026 is asking a different question:

"What will I actually feel, learn and remember from this journey?"

Uganda welcomed around 2.5 million international visitors in 2025, with international tourism spending reaching approximately $5 billion.

But the biggest opportunity isn't simply getting more tourists.

It's creating better experiences for the tourists who are already coming.

We're seeing growing interest in:

Longer stays and slower safaris

Photography-focused experiences

Walking and nature experiences

Authentic cultural encounters

Food and local communities

Wellness, conservation and meaningful connection

The 21st edition of took place on 4th September in Kinigi, Rwanda.

Numerous notable people attended and named baby gorillas that were born this year, such Patrice Evra, the chairman of Aston Villa FC and many others.

The importance of cant be underscored with mere words, to the growth of Rwanda's tourism, but also conservation of the mountain Gorilla. It is an endangered species that needs extra protection from private sector as well as through govt efforts😊
