A 40-Year Wait is Over. 🦏🇺🇬UG
For many of us who have followed Africa’s conservation journey, the news out of Uganda this month feels like a personal win. On January 5th, the silence of the Ajai Wildlife Reserve was finally broken by the heavy footfalls of the Southern White Rhino.

This isn't just another wildlife transfer. It’s a homecoming. After vanishing from this region in 1982, the first four "pioneers" have returned to the West Nile—the vanguard of a 20-rhino rewilding initiative that honors both local heritage and global conservation science.

For the traveler who looks beyond the camera lens, this is why we go. To see a "crash" of rhinos in a place where they were once only a memory is to see hope in motion. It reminds us that with patience, the "Big Five" isn't just a checklist—it's a living, breathing ecosystem being put back together piece by piece.
