🇨🇿🇺🇬 A Czech Parliament Speaker Goes Gorilla Trekking in Uganda

A powerful image from Uganda today.

Rt. Hon. Tomio Okamura, Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic, travelled to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and experienced gorilla trekking.

He was joined by Uganda's Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa.

Deeply impressed by Uganda's wildlife and natural beauty, Mr. Okamura pledged to become an ambassador for Uganda and share its tourism experiences with the world.

Both leaders also planted trees in Bwindi, while Rt. Hon. Tayebwa reaffirmed his commitment to conservation and community initiatives around Nkuringo.

Coming so soon after Uganda officially declared the end of its Ebola outbreak, this visit offers a welcome and reassuring message:

Some moments remind us why people travel so far to experience Uganda. These photographs were taken in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest on 7 June 2026, at a briefing before a gorilla trekking experience. Guests were later to trek through the forest in small groups of 8 trekkers to spend one precious hour with a gorilla family in their natural home.

Every trek follows strict health and safety protocols designed to protect both visitors and the gorillas we are privileged to spend time with.

In a world that can sometimes feel uncertain, there is something grounding about sitting quietly in a rainforest and watching a gorilla family go about its day.

Just thought we would share a little glimpse from the forest.
