The problem of poachers in our Uganda national parks: A few weeks ago I took our guests to Murchison Falls National Park in Ugamda. During our wildlife game drive, which most people refer to as Safari, we spotted all the game that is there to be spotted including 3 different leopards. During the engaging activity searching, spotting and naming. We came across this buffalo around the corner wearing a wire snare around its neck. From close looking it is clear that the wire is slowly cutting into the buffalos neck. Our ranger guide put a call through to veterinary team to look into it. UGANDA WILDLIFE AUTHORITY ( UWA) in their effort to control this problem of wire snares which is not only relegated to Uganda but rampant across Africa. Have intensified efforts to reed all national parks of wire snares. However, as determined as the UWA are in dealing with this issue so are the poachers. So they innovate techniques of accessing, evading and sneaking into the parks to lay their traps. So always victims which are the animals will always be snared.
