A profound quiet has fallen from the forests of Kibale to the heart of Heart of Lake Victoria at Ngamba as we mourn the passing of Dr. Jane Goodall. While her work began in Tanzania, her spirit is woven into the very fabric of Uganda.
Dr. Goodall taught the world to listen, revealing the complex intelligence and emotions of our chimpanzee cousins and forever changing our view of the natural world. Here, her legacy is a living reality. We see it in the sanctuary of Ngamba Island, a beacon of hope for orphaned chimpanzees.
Her greatest message was one of hope: that every individual can make a difference. The best tribute we can pay is to continue her work—to act with compassion for our communities, for animals, and for the environment we all share.
