Kampala, is the capital city of Uganda and is also the largest urban settlement in Uganda. Its history is derived from both folklore and historical fact.
Kampala grew up around a port constructed by Frederick Lugard in 1890 for the Imperial British East Africa Company. In 1890, Kampala was declared the headquarters of Uganda's colonial administration.
The city hosts of several monuments to etch out this rich history, coming up to independence in 1962 and moving forward to the present.
